Leeds star Kalvin Phillips is reportedly facing a decision over his international future after the English-born player was approached to play for Jamaica.

The 24-year-old was one of the standout players in the Championship last season, operating in a defensive midfield role as Marcelo Bielsa’s side were promoted to the Premier League.

Phillips qualifies for the Caribbean country through his father and The Sun report that they have approached his club for a conversation with the player.

The midfielder has not been capped for England at any level but manager Gareth Southgate is said to be following his progress closely.

This gives Phillips a dilemma as to whether he waits to see if he can force his way into the Three Lions squad with impressive performances in the top flight.

Jamaica have qualified for the World Cup once, finishing third in their CONCACAF qualifying group in 1998.

Dual-national players such as Frank Sinclair and Robbie Earle, both born in England, helped the country qualify and competed at the tournament.

Southgate managed to convince Declan Rice to change his allegiance from the Republic of Ireland to England in February 2019.

The midfielder was born in London but qualified through his Irish grandparents and made three senior appearances for the national side. But the midfielder remained eligible for England as he only appeared in friendlies.
